• How diverse is your PLN?

How diversity is a PLN can be analyzed from these aspects: Firstly, the way users express themselves can be spread through text, pictures, videos, or retweeting. Users can not only share to friends, family or colleagues to other PLN platforms, but also according to the current topics or views of the group discussion in order to find fellow users. Secondly, I think a good PLN platform must have the ability to analyze user preference data, so as to recommend and users may want to meet people or care about the topic, and also users can react to the recommended posts based on their personal feelings to get a better personal experience. For example, users can click: “not interested” or “Causes discomfort” and other options provided by the platform to strengthen the supervision of the post content.

• Are you learning from a variety of diverse voices and are you expanding your understanding of the views of others?

I think it is very valuable for me to get feedback from my peers, to present my strengths and weaknesses from an objective point of view. Through the communication with my classmates on social platforms such as mattermost, I think my understanding of pln has become diversified, and I am no longer used to seeing things from a subjective point of view, but have learned to analyze them objectively, thanks to the fact that I listened to others’ suggestions in a reasonable way to trigger new thinking.

• What is a learning outcome of your PLN and how are you ensuring your exposure to diversity and inclusion?

PLN is a tool and platform where users can share their opinions and experiences with each other, and the general public perception of PLN is Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. For the definition of PLN, a simple understanding is that learning platforms with the social module can be treated as PLN, such as LinkedIn, Quora, Skype, Tiktok and so on. I think as a user to experience different social media platforms is a good way to improve pln, it can help me to learn the advantages and disadvantages of different platforms, of course, we can also share thoughts and idea with each other through the group members, so that we can get a deeper feeling.
